TOM – Toronto Men´s Fashion Week

From 17th to 25th August, Toronto Men´s Fashion Week will be showcasing its SS´16 collections. This dynamic fashion spectacle aims to promote emerging and established fashion talents in Canada and around the world, featuring over 17 designers such as Kenneth Barlis, Finezza and Dalla to name a few. The organisation hail the event as ¨being designed to showcase the breadth of Canadian fashion talent, from the world’s most innovative emerging menswear brands to the most iconic and established menswear designers¨.

Besides the fashion shows, interviews and parties, TOM* also publish an official magazine which aims to be ´the definite men’s magazine of Toronto.´ It is both a printed and digital version of all things men’s fashion; taking readers through a journey of exclusive interviews with featured designers, luminaries and celebrities. The magazine features the latest from the world of men’s fashion, from headlines and runway reports, to street styles and insider previews. It also showcases the best in men’s fashion, lifestyle, arts and culture (the photography is also quite spectacular).

Official sponsors gracing the week-long celebration of Canadian couture range from Audi, Trump Residences, American Crew and Vasanti which will be actively promoting their premium brands and services in association with TOM* as a lifestyle partner.

The philanthropic arm of the event, MensFashion4Hope is a special charitable initiative at TOM* to raise funds for Kol Hope Foundation for children. All proceeds are donated to the SickKids Hospital (known and Kol Hope Fund at Sick Kids) which aims to help improve the condition and lives of children with congenital diseases in accordance with their mission statement that the ´Kol Hope Foundation for children is to show love, compassion and support for all children with disabilities.´

Rise Of The Beard

Today I read in The Telegraph that due to an explosion in the number of men wearing fashionable beards, the male grooming industry was hit to the tune of £72 million. To me this comes as no surprise after interviewing the UK’s most influential Beard and Tattoo Model Ricki Hall. In fact MenStyleFashion has focused on beard fashion over the last two years, as I could see the value and power it would have. On the flip side I have also focused on top male grooming barbers who encourage a man to look after his beard. So where does the male grooming industry go from here?

The Telegraph points out that stores in Europe sold £72 million less men’s grooming products this year than last. However it would be too soon to predict the demise of metro-sexual grooming – retailers still sold £2.2 billion worth of shaving paraphernalia across the EU in the period. The dip is also good news for committed shavers with executives scrambling to cut the prices of their products to remain competitive.

Over a year ago I couldn’t help noticing how women reacted to men with beards. Even though they look amazing it is fair to say in my own research when it comes to beards it’s a very personal choice. You either hate them or love them. The male grooming products out there now certainly have highlighted the fact of beard maintenance. Like most things the question remains? Is growing a beard a trend or is it here to stay? I can certainly say with influences such as Ricki Hall let alone George Clooney let the beard war continue.

Every year, the fashion week comes to introduce latest fashion trends. There are so many fashion weeks are highly organized in major countries. But if we talk about the top 4 international fahsion week then each one of the fashion weeks has a unique style, all their own. Here in this post i am sharing top 4 famous and popular international fashion week below.

Top 4 Fashion Week And Their Importance

New York Fashion Week:
In 1943, New York held the first fashion week and has been the quintessential idea of fashion week ever since. Now known as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it does seem to be the most commercialized of the big fashion shows, in that the clothes are created ready-for-market. Its styles and designs are arguably a lot ‘safer’ than the other three locations.

London Fashion Week:
In 1984, London jumped on the fashion train and recently has been making a splash with its high-end couture. London fashion week has not yet reached the commercial level of New York and is less likely to follow fashion trends. Rather, each London fashion house showcases its unique take on fashion-forward concepts and their collections are still market ready. The heavy hitters in London like Richard Nicholl, Christopher Kane and Giles Deacon are all amazing designers who produce commercially viable collections that would stand out at any of the fashion shows around the world.

Milan Fashion Week:
Milan’s version of the week was established in 1958 and is part of the big four internationally. It is owned by a nonprofit association which disciplines, coordinates and promotes the development of Italian fashion and is responsible for hosting the fashion events and shows of Milan called Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. The original Italian fashion week was not held in Milan, instead it was held in Florence at the hands of Giovan Battista Giorgini. He held the first “fashion parade” in the living room of his house “Villa Torrigiani”. Then the Italian week later moved to Rome, and then Milan where it is currently held in haute style today.

Paris Fashion Week:
Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world, and holds the finale position in the fashion show tour. Paris Fashion Week brings each season’s chaotic schedule of international fashion weeks to an end. High-end French designers include: Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and Louis Vuitton along with many more stunningly talented designers. Typically, Paris has some of the most extravagant shows, especially with Paris Couture Week.
